We’re doing this through a series of Conscious Commitments. Think of them like voluntary pledges: they need to be trackable, measurable, and achievable within 1 year. Each relates to one of our ten Conscious Hotel Principles. In the years to come, we’ll roll out further commitments to cover all of our ten conscious principles, but for now, we’re starting with the first.
At our sustainability workshops during Arena* 2024, attending hoteliers identified the priorities that made the most sense to them, and voted on what they wanted the first commitment to be: measure impact data or get green certified by 2025.
You can choose the tools and certifications of your choice, but if the task of collecting impact data or find a suitable certification sounds daunting, don’t worry. We’re here to help you to take concrete actions and implement them, supported by special partner offers and resources. And if you successfully achieve your commitment, we’ll be there to celebrate your hotel’s efforts with marketing exposure at no extra cost to you.
Your hotel will be listed as a ‘Sustainable Hotel” on our Sustainability theme-page (No additional costs).
Your hotel will be included in promotional newsletters and Social Media posts (No additional costs).
Your hotel will be included in an article on our Culture Journal (No additional costs).
Your hotel will be included in Design Hotels Stories and/or other PR and media contexts (No additional costs).

Conscious Collaborations
We invited the owners of two of our B-Corp-certified hotels, Carlota in Quito and Inhabit Hotels in London, to share their takes on the certification process and answer questions from our hoteliers.

Conscious Collaborations
With a topic this big and important, it’s hard to know where to start. So, we’ve gone to the experts and asked them for some practical ways hotels can start tackling carbon emissions and energy use. Specifically, what impact can we create within hospitality? And how can we bring guests along on this journey?
While we work to inspire our hotels to meet new environmental and social standards, we also strive to improve ourselves internally, too. Design Hotels will continue to internally track our own impact data. We’ve committed to measure our impact data and partner with Weeva for this. We commit to publish an Impact Report every second year, starting in 2024.
