Architect Han Tümertekin endeavored to keep the multilayered soul of the historical building intact.

Old World grandeur reigns in the public spaces, with marble columns and fireplaces, ceramic tiles, and an elegantly age-worn staircase. The German-built bank vault, just off the lobby, now hosts a wine cellar where guests can take part in tastings.

Classical architecture is augmented by designer Sinan Kafadar’s flair for the eclectic.

A rich color palette of oranges and greens—recalling the building’s moneyed past—offset the cool marble majesty. Texture comes courtesy of custom-designed furniture imported from Italy and works by area artists. Guestrooms are another alluring balancing act, with crisp white linens, soaring ceilings, crown moldings, Carrara marble bathrooms, and abstract art.
