Kenting National Park is a verdant swathe of protected forestland on Taiwan’s southernmost tip, the Hengchun Peninsula, in Pingtung County. As well as being Taiwan’s oldest and largest national park, Kenting National Park is listed as a tropical botanical garden by the Global Botanical Garden Directory. Known for producing superior Taiwan tea—specifically Kungko tea—Pingtung County enjoys a thriving agriculture sector, while Pingtung City is home to such attractions as Pingtung Art Museum and the Zhong-Sheng-Gong Memorial. North of Kenting National Park is Yushan National Park, an equally impressive landscape of mountainous forestland that features canyons, cliffs, valleys, and over 30 peaks that are over 3,000 meters in altitude. Guests staying at boutique hotels in Kenting, the largest Taiwan National Park, are immersed in the beauty of Taiwan nature landscapes far out of earshot of the bustling Taipei City in the north.
