The intimate Vander Urbani Resort is spread throughout four buildings and invites guests to treat the modest and comfortable space as their own home. Curved walls, ceilings, and doors create a continuous flow across the resort’s three stories, while homey comfort extends to its 20 rooms and suites, where high-end materials and amenities, such as luxurious fluffy towels and robes, add to the plush atmosphere. Perks include a sumptuous breakfast buffet, complimentary juice in the minibar, and free ironing of one shirt a day, among others.
The Ljubljanica River holds a special place in Slovenian architect Aleksander Vujandinovič's heart, for it was here that he first met his Australian wife Amanda. The pair traveled extensively together until buying an apartment in the city center of Ljubljana. Their home quickly became a hub for like-minded travelers, family, and friends, and when the opportunity arose to acquire the adjoining property, it seemed entirely natural for the enthusiastic hosts to move into hospitality. Aleksander used his previous experience of property development and architecture to create Vander Urbani Resort. Together, they have infused the hotel with such a warmth that it has become a veritable home way from home. In their own words, "After a stay at our hotel, guests will always have a Vander family in Ljubljana."
Crisscrossed by white limestone bridges and veiled in weeping willows, the Ljubljanica River epitomizes the sleepiness of the city’s relatively undiscovered Stari de Ljubljanje (Old Town). The daytime sees cobbled streets flanked by quiet waterside wine bars, while the evening beckons locals with fine eateries, backyard beer gardens, and graffiti-clad clubs.
