Rooms 100 /Architecture Design Hotels™ Design Team /Interior Design Design Hotels™ Design Team /The Original Emilio Heredia
Together with Emilio Heredia, owner of the existing Papaya Playa Beach Resort, Design Hotels™ has created a destination in paradise along the Caribbean coast of Tulum, Mexico. Dotted along the beach and nestled in the jungle, the simplicity of the 100 rooms is what lends them their special charm. The resort's restaurant overlooks the azure waters, where diners can enjoy locally sourced specialties; along the beach, drinks and snacks are served from late morning until late evening at the resort's Beach Club. In addition to massages and beauty treatments, guests can also enjoy yoga, tai chi and meditation to complete the holistic circle. Being linked to the best DJs in the world, Papaya Playa makes music a key component of the experience. All communal areas encourage creative collaboration – there’s even an amphitheater on the beach, where guests can come together to perform, present or communicate in their chosen fashion with music, readings, inspiring lectures and more. Papaya Playa Project is a destination for those looking to merge nature, relaxation, and spirituality.

CABAÑAS & CASITAS
Spread out over a 900-meter stretch of the Caribbean coast of Tulum, Papaya Playa possesses a rustic charm and offers a uniquely sophisticated natural luxury. The casitas and casas come with large private terraces that offer dramatic views of the Caribbean’s turquoise waters. Recently renovated, the thatch-roofed casitas and casas are made using ecological and local materials. The Casas Palapa, on the far north of the property, comes with a grand suite on top and a two-bedroom suite and double room below. A lounge with a Jacuzzi, a vast sun terrace, a fully equipped kitchen, and a generous 20-person dining table with plenty of surrounding lounge space ensure that guests never have to leave. The 250-square-meter Casa Madera is the king of the entire estate, emerging from dense natural greenery to stand on high rocks overlooking the Caribbean Sea.
Emilio Heredia has spent the last 30 years dedicated to his own spiritual development through the study of yoga, karate, the Tao, and Corporal Psychotherapy. His business expertise is equally profound. With degrees in electronic engineering and finance, he has served as chairman of various financial institutions in Mexico and New York. Twelve years ago, Heredia moved to Tulum with the vision of merging his passion for personal development with his financial know-how. The result is a sustainable community that learns from and gives back to the local Maya.
