Please take a few moments to complete our form based on our 10 Conscious Hotel Principles.

The information you provide will help us promote your hotel across our channels. It will also give us the opportunity to understand the collective challenges member hotels face. We will connect you with like-minded hotels and relevant partners for further collaboration and to create an impact together.

The form has a total of 13 questions and at it’s current stage do not have a ‘save’ function, we therefore strongly recommend you to have your answers saved separately for your records, before adding them to the form.

All 10 Conscious Principles

What is your sustainability philosophy (incl vision & mission statement + values)?

What do you see as the biggest sustainability hurdle for hotels? How are you combating that?

Has your hotel earned a green certification, such as B Corp, EarthCheck, LEED, GreenKeys, etc. ?

Planet

- Does your hotel have a waste plan in place to reduce or reuse waste?
- Is your hotel taking initiatives to reduce food waste?
- Is your hotel separating its waste according to the national legislation and into at least three categories?
- Has your hotel eliminated single-use amenities (shampoo, conditioner, etc.)?

- Has your hotel installed water saving taps?
- Are you monitoring total water consumption on a monthly basis?
- Does your hotel provide filtered tap water for guests and employees?
- Do you know the average water usage per room night?

- Are at least 75% of all your light bulbs energy efficient and at least 50% of all your light bulbs LED?
- Is your hotel taking actions to reduce its carbon intensity?
- Is at least 50% of your used and/or purchased electricity sourced from renewable electricity?
- Does your hotel measure its energy intensity?

- Were eco-friendly materials used during construction or refurbishments made in the last 12 months?
- Were authentic elements of the local culture considered in the operation and in connection with refurbishments or construction works?
- Does your hotel also include local interior design, art, and construction processes?
- Do the architects connected to your project engage with environmental (or climate responsive) principles and natural building methods?

- Do you prioritize local products and ingredients?
- Does your hotel focus on the origin of high-impact products like meat, bottled water, cleaning supplies, cocoa, coffee, guest room amenities, paper products, seafood, sugar, textiles, etc.?
- Does your hotel know and document the origin of its food and beverage products?
- Do the contracted suppliers provide information on product sustainability, inclusive of social and human rights impact?

People

- Do you offer a workplace that is supportive and diverse in gender and ethnic backgrounds where employees can thrive?
- Does your hotel ensure equal pay and equal leadership opportunities for all sexes?
- Does your hotel offer education programs, language courses, or anything similar to develop the hospitality skills and opportunity among employees?
- Do the employees of your hotel, specifically at the FO & HK complete an annual training on human rights, including on human trafficking awareness?

- Does your hotel document, offer and encourage sustainable transportation methods for guests?
- Is there adequate size and space in hotel rooms, bathrooms, and common areas for wheelchairs? Can elevators be operated by someone in a wheelchair (e.g. buttons and key control are correct height) / Does the hotel allow assistance animals?
- Does your hotel offer its employees discounts / benefits if they arrive by public transport?
- Is your hotel designed with necessary equipment for people with disabilities (including braille on buttons in and outside the elevator, step-free access to guest rooms, or lowered bathtubs and accessible showers)?

- Does your hotel offer mindful activities for your guests? (yoga, mediation, sound healing, mental health)
- Does your hotel offer information about sustainable activities to your guests? (focused on sustainable development, the environment and nature within the hotel or the local community, etc.)
- Does your hotel offer local traditional cuisine to encourage a deeper connection with the surroundings?
- Does your hotel donate to any causes for the restoration of the environment or social impact?

- Does your hotel participate in community service activities?
- Does your hotel offer excursions for guests to get to know the local culture and wildlife in a respectful way (eco-tourism)? Does your hotel promote responsible tourism regarding the local environment and community?
- Does your hotel undertake actions for the protection of the environment in the region?
- How do you forge a connection to the local community and cultural surroundings?

- Does your hotel communicate its measures and sustainable activities with guests?
- Does your hotel do Carbon accounting?
- Did your hotel receive an award for special efforts related to sustainability?
