The hotel is set in the historic center of Puebla, a colonial city (UNESCO World Heritage Site) an hour and a half from Mexico City. Its sits by the church of San Francisco, which was built between 1550 and 1767. The Paseo San Francisco area boasts the Violet Garden, archaeological sites, boutique hotels, restaurants, and a cinema. The area also includes a shopping center, a commercial corridor, green spaces, and a convention center. The shopping center combines a variety of shops integrated into historic buildings, offering the opportunity to view artifacts unearthed within the city through a glass floor.

He took on the La Purificadora as a challenge. Limiting himself entirely to the colors black and white, he used materials like stone from the original construction, old wood, onyx, and specially fabricated floor tiles to create the hotel’s public spaces, which includes a stunning stairway and a roof terrace with an artist-rendered 30-meter pool.

Elements found by an onsite archaeologist, such as bottles and glass fragments, are incorporated into the hotel’s construction and graphic design, which is a striking yet functional mix of the past and present, of the raw and the refined.
