Senglea is a fortified city in southeastern Malta, a small island in the Mediterranean Sea about 80 kilometers south of the Italian coast, which plays host to a number of fortresses, churches, and famed religious statues. After exploring Senglea, guests will naturally gravitate towards the island's capital city, Valletta. Linked to Senglea by boats and buses, Valletta is Europe’s most southerly capital city, and is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site thanks to its 320 monuments that make it one of the world’s most concentrated historic areas. Valletta is characterized by myriad architectural styles, with many buildings dating back to the 16th century such as St John’s Co-Cathedral, the Palace of the Grand Master, and the Auberge de Castile et Léon, while other top attractions in Malta include the City Gate (designed by Renzo Piano), the Parliament Building, the Opera House, the Upper Barrakka Gardens, and Marsamxett harbor. Valletta is also the European Capital of Culture 2018. Below, find our selection of boutique and luxury hotels Valletta.
