We’re looking for a creative, strategic, and well-connected PR Manager to join our team with a focus on strengthening our voice across the globe, delivering impactful communications that build awareness and drive revenue for both the Design Hotels brand and our member hotels.
Objective
The PR Manager will increase brand awareness of Design Hotels™ and its members among international media and travel trade, as well as supporting with agency management in APAC and AMERS. Designing effective PR and communications strategies for our member hotels and providing exceptional client management to maintain Design Hotels™ industry-leading reputation.
Key Responsibilities
PR Strategy & Campaigns
Work alongside the PR leadership team to establish a meaningful brand PR strategy that supports the overall positioning of Design Hotels
Establish PR campaigns to support global awareness of Design Hotels brand initiatives (e.g. Directions, Trend Report, partnerships and other projects)
Develop on/offline PR strategies for Design Hotels™ members, including concepts, events, press releases, press kits, media stays, influencer campaigns, hotel launches
Evolve the Design Hotels’ PR team client relations offering – bringing new ideas to the table to continue its services remain valuable and relevant
Media Relations
Effectively manage media relationships to secure exceptional media coverage of Design Hotels™ and its members in relevant global markets
Increase outreach to key media with new hotel and brand stories, developing news angles, building on existing relationships and forging new ones with relevant editors and freelancers
Build awareness of Design Hotels™ among the travel trade – identifying media, event, speaking, sponsorship, and award opportunities
Support with the execution of brand and community events where necessary
Manage and extend the Design Hotels™ media contact database
Document and follow-up on all PR activities, execution of reports for HQ and PR clients
Handle journalist requests including media visits
Client Relations
Lead effective PR campaigns for multiple clients, fostering a collaborative approach to ensure smooth and efficient internal communications and account management
Effective management of client (hotel) relationships, ensuring PR services are delivered to a high standard
Key account relationship management and growth in the context of PR activities and services
Team Management
Manage and mentor more junior members of the team, setting clear goals and supporting development
Work closely with the commercial and portfolio team to understand client needs and support on new business pitching
Experience & Mindset
Degree in PR, communications, journalism, or related field
Minimum of four years job-related experience in lifestyle media, lifestyle-focused PR agencies or in house with a like-minded brand within travel, fashion, design, or architecture
Comprehensive knowledge of the lifestyle media landscape, including personal pool of media contacts and relationship
Soft Skills
Creative thinker with experience executing PR campaigns
Solution oriented, self-starter that works well in cross-functional teams
Well-organized and capable of working quickly and simultaneously handling several projects
Excellent writing, communication and organizational skills
Experience in client management at an agency or similar
Knowledge of the global media landscape with a network of editors across travel, design, architecture, lifestyle and luxury goods publications
Interest in lifestyle, consumer behaviors and culture, strong point of view on key cultural shifts globally and how they affect travel, hospitality & design industries
Experience of working with external agencies
Track record of achieving positive media results
Ability to form strong partnerships both in and outside of the organization
Ability to work independently and to undertake supervisory responsibilities as needed
Native English speaker and writer, other languages would be beneficial
Proficiency in the MS Office programs, Asana and Keynote
