Fresh, playful, and with a distinct midcentury aesthetic, the hotel’s design is a showplace for 1960s modernism, eclecticism, and contemporary art.

Context was key in creating a coherent, unified design that respects both the area’s history and its stunning location. Custom-made furniture, custom-developed wallpapers, natural wood flooring, and organic textiles showcase textures that reflect the landscape. Shades of rich wine and bottle-green offset original terrazzo floors, while local materials, such as oak and pine, offer a timeless aesthetic. And it’s all augmented by inspired works of art and Deco touches.

Architecture weStudio

The region’s stunning natural landscape flows seamlessly into the hotel through huge windows that open onto expansive vistas.

The history of the original building, which was built in 1881, played an important role in the structure’s rebirth, with the former property undergoing a contemporary update that still speaks to the timelessness of the area. Boasting an Alpine resort design with 1960s nostalgia and elements of Viennese café style, the hotel also features large, panoramic windows that showcase the region’s beautiful landscapes.

Food & Drink Brilliant simplicity

Local Austrian cuisine combines with creativity and gusto to produce a fresh, flavorful, unpretentious dining experience.

With a special focus placed on organic vegetables that are sustainably grown and harvested on nearby farms, De Leit restaurant combines the skills of local talents and Berlin-based chef Max Jensen to create a menu of unadulterated goodness. The hotel’s bar, meanwhile, forgoes vogue cocktails, and instead presents classic drinks and high-quality Winzersekt from local organic farms and small-batch vineyards.

Mountain A sleepy village awakens

The youthful, Berlin-born undercurrent now pulsing through Bad Gastein is attracting global nomads who seek the healing powers of nature.

Once a refuge for nobility seeking natural splendor, the village of Bad Gastein had been forgotten in recent decades. Today, a small but mighty creativity community has this Alpine paradise returning to its former glory. It is the perfect retreat for wellness, skiing, cycling, hiking, or simply losing yourself in the beauty of the mountains.

Architecture

Architecture

The building was built in 1960. During the conversion, the entire supporting structure, materials, surfaces, and the swimming pool, were deliberately kept intact. All extensions were realized locally and sustainably with wood.

Energy

Energy

With 165 beds, we now need less energy than before the reconstruction, when there were only 45. The energy supply was converted to low temperature and a large part of the hotel’s electricity is generated sustainably by photovoltaics.
