STONEHILL & TAYLOR

For architects Stonehill & Taylor, it was critical that The Whitby enhance its neighborhood while also respecting the existing architectural fabric. “With hotel architecture, we want to create buildings that support the hotel’s function as a gathering place and cornerstone for communities,” says architect Paul Taylor. “The Whitby has a quiet, understated architecture that fits seamlessly with the neighborhood, but the generously sized windows and numerous terraces offer glimpses of the activity and life within.”

KIT KEMP

Bedrooms at The Whitby emanate an intimate, enveloping mood of comfort with fabric-lined walls, an enchanting mix of sumptuous textures and hues, and Kemp’s signature touches, such as oversized headboards, some beautifully embroidered and embellished by artists such as Kumi.

Her own fabric designs, including Mud Print, Ozone, Travelling Light and Tea Leaf, have been used throughout, alongside elegant rugs, ceramics, artworks, and cushions.
