    Htel Americano

Located in the heart of Chelsea's art gallery district, Hôtel Americano, celebrates contemporary art and a passion for Manhattan. The 56-room hotel features decidedly Mexican touches, such as an outdoor rooftop pool in summer that transitions into the concept restaurant Arriba in winter, along with New York style details such as iPads in every room, which are full of recommendations for the best local galleries, restaurants, and shops. Bicycles are also on-hand to explore the High Line and Hudson River Park. Embracing Chelsea’s world-class art galleries, its multicultural residents, and its industrial past, guests feel as if they are a part of the local scene from the moment they arrive.

    Rooms & Suites

With a Japanese Zen quality, each of the rooms in Chelsea’s Hotel Americano is designed to be a spot of calm and relaxation after you’ve explored New York’s hippest art district. The rooms suggest an urbane ryokan on the Hudson: materials are all natural, beds are on wooden platforms, walls are white, and floors are concrete. Upholstery is leather, lighting is low, and many of the textiles come from Japanese brand Fog. Every guestroom has an iPad with well-edited listings for the city’s culture, dining, wellness, and sports options. The 42- square-meter suites even come with gas fireplaces. The soft denim bathrobes in all three room types are a nice touch and a temptation come check out time!

    Carlos Couturier and Moisés Micha

For Carlos Couturier and Moisés Micha, building hotels that reflect their surroundings is more than just a job – it’s a passion that drove these two Mexican entrepreneurs from citrus farming and investment banking to boutique hospitality. “Even if we’re successful at something, we don’t repeat it,” Couturier says. “We like this sense of passion and audacity.” Their Grupo Habita collection has grown to include very diverse properties. Ambitious, fun-loving and well-traveled, the dynamic duo was awarded ‘Team of the Year 2011’ by FIZZZ Magazine.
