Bookable now for stays beginning May 1, 2019. Set in Miami’s vibrant South of Fifth neighborhood, steps from the ocean yet perfectly removed from the area’s many tourists, this majestically transformed 1930s landmark Tudor cottage is a gamechanger in South Beach. From the living room/lobby, which serves as both a relaxing retreat and a gathering point for locals, to a lobby café that becomes a lively night-time hangout with cocktails, to an artisanal design scheme that is rooted in styles of the past, the property embodies the home of an artist or writer living by the seashore. More than just a hotel, the 26-room Life House South Beach is bent on fulfilling its mission to introduce guests to the works of local artists and to provide a window into an authentic South Beach experience. Here, guests enter a light-and-airy beach retreat rich in coastal details, such as whitewashed wood-plank walls and ceilings. Each room has a uniquely playful layer of art, color, and texture that brings to mind the bedroom of a painter. When you are not taking in the surrounding South Beach Art Deco neighborhood from the hotel’s verdant garden patio or partaking in its morning and sunset yoga programs on the beach, you can avail yourself of Life House’s unique “members” program, featuring neighborhood ambassadors who offer an “in” to all the local happenings.
Each of the hotel’s 26 rooms include luxury linens and terry from Revival New York, a retro Marshall amplifying speaker, and Le Labo shower amenities. The hotel’s Private Queen Rooms feature a custom millwork desk, as do the Private King Room Suites, which also boast an extended Living Room Lounge with a built-in vinyl player and a watercolor nook to ignite your inner creative. The Shared Bunk rooms offer four well-appointed full-size beds, and are perfect for traveling friends, colleagues, or families.
The guestrooms at Life House South Beach exude the light, airy feel of a beach retreat with details such as whitewashed wood-plank, rooting one in the coastal surroundings. A custom-salvaged stained glass back bar honors the structure’s Arts & Crafts beginnings, while local vintage vendors have produced tiles, wood paneling, and textiles that lend both warmth and historical authenticity to the scene.
Originally designed in Craftsman Revival style, also known as the American Arts & Crafts Movement, the hotel both celebrates its past and looks forward, as exemplified by a lobby featuring a custom-cast concrete bar inspired by the neighborhood’s seawalls. The hotel’s front patio integrates teak wood planters, creating an inviting outdoor dining experience and main entry for the hotel. Uniquely crafted lighting adds a beautiful, soft glow to the lobby.

“If there are two words that my team tells me I overuse, they are ‘narrative’ and ‘depth’.” So says Life House founder, Rami Zeidan, who was born into a Lebanese family in Minnesota and who understands that when it comes to the hospitality world, one can never be too authentic. “Everything we do is rooted in a deep desire to enrichen lives through exposure to new experiences, cultures, and people,” explains the longtime executive at such hotel companies and brands as Starwood, Sydell, NoMad, Freehand, and 1 Hotels. Having spent his life gaining perspective on the ins and outs of hospitality, Zeidan found that while there are many great hotels out there, there is a dearth of those at an accessible price point that tell deep stories with narrative and substance, that foster a community for guests and locals alike, and that offer meaningful experiences.
