Life House Little Havana takes the spirit of its locale and runs with it. Set in Miami’s Hispanic heart, the hotel dwells within a historic 1920s tropical mansion and showcases paintings and photography from local artists—including hyperlocal works by Cuban artist Leandro Feal. Here, one finds monochrome floors inspired by typical Havana mansions and colors that reflect the texture of the neighborhood, from guava pink and plum purple to the distinctive magenta of nearby market boards. The ground-floor café and rooftop restaurant take a “third plate” approach to dining, exploring the relationship between agricultural methods and culinary techniques, with an on-site “food forest” and offerings that include Latin American street-food-inspired dishes. Terras, the restaurant on the roof helmed by talented chefs Brian Griffiths and Leo Pablo, also overlooks the Miami skyline from a jungle canopy-like vantage point. Reflecting the tight-knit nature of the community, the hotel also encourages human connection through yoga and meditation sessions.

The 33 rooms and suites range from 140 to 275 square feet and all feature a rain shower, bathroom amenities from Le Labo, and a Marshall Bluetooth speaker. While the Modern Double room and the Bohemian Suite—both over 200 square feet—offer double beds and sitting areas, the 275-square-foot King Suites include a living area and overlook the Miami skyline.

The interiors are home to monogram-checked flooring typical of a Havana mansion and ceilings inspired by the overdyed magenta-hued wood of local market boards. Earthen sienna, deep jade, and guava pink also add a certain flair that contrasts natural wood and delicate cream walls, while furnishings include a custom plum leather Hans Wegner sofa and Cassina LC7 chairs originally designed by Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, and Charlotte Perriand.

    Rami Zeidan

“If there are two words that my team tells me I overuse, they are ‘narrative’ and ‘depth’.” So says Life House founder, Rami Zeidan, who was born into a Lebanese family in Minnesota and who understands that when it comes to the hospitality world, one can never be too authentic. “Everything we do is rooted in a deep desire to enrichen lives through exposure to new experiences, cultures, and people,” explains the longtime executive at such hotel companies and brands as Starwood, Sydell, NoMad, Freehand, and 1 Hotels. Having spent his life gaining perspective on the ins and outs of hospitality, Zeidan found that while there are many great hotels out there, there is a dearth of those at an accessible price point that tell deep stories with narrative and substance, that foster a community for guests and locals alike, and that offer meaningful experiences.
