Rebuilt and expanded in 2019, the 1958 structure is a living testament to natural, sustainable, and recycled materials.

The hotel’s charred-wood exterior and beautiful deck and balcony are care of the Norwegian artisanal producer Kebony. Through a collaboration with Seaform, a harvester of ocean plastics, the hotel has transformed waste into the stunning tiles found in its rooftop bar. Additional eco-friendly materials include recycled fiberglass for insulation and recycled felt for bottles.

The interiors focus solely on what one truly needs. Thus, there is nothing to distract one from a mindful retreat.

Luxury minimalism makes for warm and welcoming yet uncluttered spaces. The four guestrooms each has its own color scheme based on the four elements, with designers Philippe Starck, Ethnicraft, Lagos del Mundo, and many others showcased. A cozy library boasts two Cappellini felt chairs and a Knoll marble coffee table, while a small pop-up shop offers local crafts and artisanal products.

Sustainability Keeping an eye on our Conscious Hotel Principles

“We always search for a sustainable solution from our building and materials, furniture, bedding and towels, food, energy, waste, and processes.”

Icon Architecture (1)

Architecture

During construction, only one-third of the original house was taken down. For the new portions, the local sustainable builder used conscious practices and sustainably sourced materials.

Icon Waste (1)

Waste

Twelve Senses composts food waste and buys locally in bulk to reduce packaging. There are recycling bins located throughout the hotel.

Icon Energy (1)

Energy

The hotel is proudly run by 100% solar energy. Nest thermostats monitor the rooms when there are no guests to minimize waste. Windows are dual-glazed and walls are sealed to prevent energy loss.

Water

Fixtures are water-efficient. Drinking water comes from a local, alkaline water source. The landscaping requires very little water consumption.
