      About Your Stay

Guests can mingle in the hotel's handsomely vibrant drawing rooms, while some guestrooms have private courtyards overlooking the hotel's stunning English garden. One drawing room is romantically adorned with rose prints and oil paintings, while the lobby greets guests with a more austere ambience. The attentive service, however, might have guests wondering whether this isn't a gracious private home after all. Number Sixteen's sense of subdued, relaxed modernity is brought to its apex in the conservatory and exquisite private garden, whose reflecting pond, fountain and lush foliage offer precious seclusion amidst the city bustle. Number Sixteen is situated in the heart of South Kensington, just steps away from the Victoria & Albert and Natural History Museums and a short walk to Harrods, Knightsbridge and Brompton Cross shopping. Kensington Gardens is close by and the area is filled with some of London's most interesting bars, cafes and restaurants.

      This is no private residence

With its wrought-iron balustrades and column-supported porticoes, only the corresponding house number suggests that the white-stucco Victorian terrace is the hotel Number Sixteen – and not an upscale private residence, situated just steps from London's major museums and Harrods.

      Interior Design
      Elaborate detail and dramatic patterns

The eclectic furnishings – a mix of antique, contemporary and ethnic accents – keep the aesthetic fresh and elegantly eccentric. Pretty detailing such as colorful glass beads on cushions and shell buttons stitched on to curtains give the rooms a feminine quality, while bold prints and trademark flourishes such as oversized headboards mean they don't feel too dainty.

      Kit Kemp

Together with her partner Tim Kemp, award-winning designer Kit Kemp stands at the helm of eight hotels. This quirky design guru’s aesthetic reflects a fresh, modern take on English style. Mixing eras with state-of-the-art technology, the self-taught designer follows no rules but her own, creating a signature style that strikes the perfect balance between classicism and modernity. Kemp’s pioneering work earned her the Andrew Martin International Interior Designer of the Year in 2008, and her hotel group Firmdale Hotels received the Queens Award for Enterprise in 2000, 2006 and in 2009.
