      ARCHITECTURE

      An Intimate Retreat

Located on the cobbled Monmouth Street, the building dates back to the 1890's when it operated as a French hospital. The structure lay neglected for years until 1996 when hoteliers Tim and Kit Kemp—whose flair for interior design is world-renowned—transformed the property into one of London's most charming getaways. Surrounded by nearly 21 theaters, the building takes on the character of a stage set. Yet architectural details like a sweeping stone staircase usher guests into sumptuous soundproofed rooms that cocoon them from the hustle and bustle of nearby boutiques, restaurants, cafés, and bars. Once again, the Kemps have created a discreet, tucked-away atmosphere in the heart of London.

      English Fusion

A quintessentially quirky fusion of traditional English design and contemporary accents prevail at Covent Garden Hotel. Yet it’s the personal touch of designer and art collector Kit Kemp that gives the hotel its special charm. Selections from her own art collection and carefully curated antique furnishings feature throughout the 19th century property, along with dignified granite and mahogany detailing.

      Rooms & Suites

Each of the 58 bedrooms and suites at charming Covent Garden Hotel in central London has a rather quaint English charm. The Junior Loft Suite, for example, features a gorgeous canopy above the bed and a valance above the round, cozy window-side seating. The Covent Garden Loft Suite is spread out over two floors with a spacious drawing room, dining area, and bathroom on the lower level. A dramatic Mooi-style chandelier and candelabra give the suit the necessary aplomb. A king bedroom, dressing area, and another bathroom is situated on the upper level. Guests also have the option to connect to the adjacent King Room. The Terrace Suite, on the hotel’s top (fourth) floor, has a charming furnished terrace affording one excellent views of London rooftops.
