      About Your Stay
      The Library

Against the seductive backdrop of Koh Samui’s Chaweng Beach, The Library reads like an elegant monograph. Owned by Samui native Kasemtham Sornsong and created with designer Tirawan Songsawat, the beachfront hotel—an elegant minimalist structure—is a refreshing and subtle play on the notion of the book. The expansive grounds provide ample space for guests to flourish, each area representing a blank page on which to write their story. Divided into 26 suite/studio cabins, the complex avoids the monolithic hotel-complex look, scattering discreet buildings in lush vegetation. With its restrained yet sophisticated design, the conceptual resort is unique to the island. Understated and peaceful, The Library narrates a story in which genuine harmony with the neighboring landscape is a tangible achievement. The hotel’s library binds the property; its collection of over 1,300 books, available to borrow or purchase, provides a satisfying alternative to modern distractions.

      A Narrative in Nature

As with all great books, structure at a hotel is everything. Thus, the Library buildings have been constructed and laid out in such a way as to let life’s story unfold in its natural, most dramatic way. From The Page restaurant holding fort on the beachfront, to the 270-degree sea views from the glass-enclosed gym, The Library bridges the chasm between nature and modern life. It contains an assortment of interesting chapters, enticing guests to learn to live harmoniously with nature.

The Library interiors are finished in a distinctive minimalist style with strong color palates. The Library’s clean lines and cool black, white, and red interiors feature a number of delicate touches, including a number of daybeds in public spaces that invite guests to settle down and curl up with a favorite book.

In public areas, simplicity thrives. The Library Building’s cubic shelving units and stark white-on-white neutrality is the ideal milieu for a good read. In fact, the grounds are peppered with molded fibreglass statues of figures engrossed in books.

      Kasemtham Sornsong & Tirawan Songsawat

Kasemtham Sornsong and Tirawan Songsawat's vision for The Library was of a hotel that invites one to sit with a book in quiet contemplation while also weaving its own story of natural beauty and unmatched luxury. Set in the heart of Chaweng Beach on Thailand's island of Koh Samui, the result is a seamless example of how design can tastefully merge with comfort, quality, and the timeless power of nature. Just 26 years old when The Library was launched four years ago, Sornsong realized his dream with the help of partner Tirawan Songsawat. The Library is a testament to the couple's adoration of the island. Fittingly, each page of the hotel's story is deeply rooted in their reverence for Samui life and landscape.
