      About your stay

In a magnificent park on the shores of Lake Geneva, La Réserve Genève Hotel and Spa whisks guests away on a whimsical global safari. Parisian designer Jacques Garcia has transformed the 1970s hotel into a playful explosion of extravagant color, secluding shrubbery, and revealing glass galleries. A gold-leaf trim courses the lobby's upper wall. Below it, a frieze quotes a line from philosopher and Geneva-native Jean-Jacques Rousseau: ‘Back to Nature.’ Perched on standing and mounted lamps are colorful plastic cutouts shaped as parrots and peacocks. A band of leopard-print fabric cuts a horizontal line across lipstick-red chairs. A life-like elephant guards the entrance to the Loti restaurant; inside, a copper elephant's head, originally commissioned for the 1931 Paris Colonial Exhibition, is mounted. The elegant Venetian water taxi used for trips into the city makes visiting this exquisite hideaway feel even more like an exhilarating jungle expedition.

      Architecture

      Patrice Reynaud & Jacques Garcia

Together with architect Patrice Reynaud, designer Jacques Garcia transformed the hotel into a contemporary and exhilarating wonderland. The rolling Geneva countryside surrounding the hotel, meanwhile, plays an almost tame contrast to the wild and welcoming world within, where Reynaud adhered to the idea that La Réserve would also be a summit of well-being: thus the 2,000-square-meter spa—complete with solarium, fitness center, and indoor and outdoor pools—dedicated to relaxation, well-being, personalized treatments, and the preservation of each individual's youth.

Guestrooms are less ostentatious though equally exciting as the hotel’s public spaces thanks to soft velvet bedspreads and black granite and mahogany fittings, and oiled parquet floors, which create a stage for dramatic drapery.

Abstract patterned wall hangings and wallpaper are echoed in the choice of woven frames for upholstered seating. The colonial theme is charmingly picked up again by hanging vintage travel photographs on the walls.

      Raouf Finan & Michel Reybier

Behind La Réserve stand the Lebanese-born, managing director Raouf Finan and the visionary owner Michel Reybier. Located in Geneva, Paris, and Ramatuelle, each property of La Réserve has its own distinct style. Already a magnate in the chocolate, delicatessen, and supermarket industries, Reybier was on vacation in Bali when he met Finan, who at the time was a resourceful general manager of an exclusive resort. After working at New York’s illustrious Drake Hotel and studying at Switzerland’s top-ranked Glion Institute, Finan had been developing and running luxury hotels in Asia for almost a decade. The two felt an instant affinity. With La Réserve, the pair has struck a balance between, as they see it, someplace inviting but otherworldly, too.
