Skiing in the Swiss Alps is on the bucket list of any winter sports enthusiast. But the close proximity between the villages of Flims, Laax, and Falera, as well as abundance of lakes for swimming, trails for hiking, and rivers for rafting, make this an equally mesmerizing retreat during the summer months. A UNESCO World Heritage, this region of the Swiss Alps is known affectionately as the “Little Swiss Grand Canyon”. Enjoy a stroll through Flimser forest, climb rugged mountains, and cross the seven bridges on the Trutg dil Flem. Or head indoors to the Mirasteilas Observatory and explore the universe. The “Yellow House”, a traditional building that was radically redesigned by Valerio Olgiati and is located in Flims, meanwhile, has won the Swiss architectural award “Golden Rabbit” in 1999.
