      ARCHITECTURE

      A 21st century Mountain Getaway

A typical 19th century villa with adjoining chalets sits perched among some of the most pristine 360 degree views the alps have to offer. Extensively re-designed to adopt a more contemporary focus, The Cambrian’s architecture stresses panoramic windows, smooth swathes of slate and stone, and multiple decks from which to take in the stunning scenery. For those guests who choose to experience the bracing mountain air, the enclosed winter garden opens onto a sun deck that is the perfect place to enjoy an après-ski drink and tan under the tender winter sun. The Cambrian’s 750m2 spa is adjacent to an outdoor terrace where bathers and steamers can cool off after one of the many treatments offered.

      Swiss Serenity

Designer Peter Silling’s interiors cocoon guests in welcoming warmth. The Cambrian prides itself on the primary use of natural, local materials throughout the hotel. The crisp modernity of its furniture is dynamically integrated into the powerful landscapes outside.

In each of the guestrooms, the elegant, sleek furniture such as the cool steel curves of the Barcelona chairs echo the snow-covered ridges visible while seated in them.

      Grant Maunder

Hotelier Grant Maunder brings a touch of Wales to the Swiss Alps. The Welshman bucked the trend of the cozy Swiss chalet in favor of a contemporary, character-filled retreat brimming with subtle, personal references to Cambrian culture like portraits made by Welsh painters.
