An oasis of Zen tranquility in the heart of Old City, Hotel Granados 83 brings a touch of New York industrial-chic to Barcelona. The glass, steel, and exposed brick of the hotel’s airy interiors combine with hotel owner Jordi Clos’ personal collection of original Hindu and Buddhist artworks dating from as early as the 10th century. The result? An urban getaway as soothing as it is inspiring. True to both location and inspiration, the hotel’s restaurant offers sublime Mediterranean and Asian fusion.

      Rooms & Suites

The marble, steel, and glass in the 77 loft-style guestrooms of Hotel Granados 83, which is set in Barcelona’s Old City, are enhanced by exposed brick walls and African zebrano wood floors. Bathrooms are oases of purity, accentuated by the extensive use of white Thassos marble. Furnishings are covered in phosphorescent iron plating, creating a visual and tactile consistency throughout the hotel. Above the desks Asian pieces of art help to soften an ultra-modern choice of materials. Raw leather inserts on the beds’ tall headboards and chairs lend further warmth and create a mix of materials that both inspire and soothe.

Built on the site of Barcelona's venerable Pujol i Brull clinic, the Hotel Granados 83 brings an entirely modern concept of luxury to a notable Old City location. Hotel Granados 83 is constructed around a luminous central courtyard that radiates from an elevator shaft leading to a glass ceiling. This extraordinarily vertical public space is the guiding organizational principle for the whole hotel. The original colonnades are enhanced by modern steel, red marble, glass and iron, but the lobby is dotted by strategically placed antiques and objets d’art.

      Asian Art Meets Modern Tactility

In the 77 loft-style guestrooms, all furnishings are covered in phosphorescent iron plating in order to create visual and tactile consistency. Here, Asian pieces of art soften the high-tech facilities and ultramodern materials. A soothing social buzz prevails in Granados 83’s public areas. Images are constantly projected onto the walls, giving a sense of constant low-level movement.

The Derby Hotels Collection began in Barcelona in 1968 with the opening of Hotel Derby, an icon in the glorious old heart of new Barcelona. The project continues with the latest generation of the Clos family who share the same passion for art, design and fine hospitality. Under chairman Jordi Clos, a Catalan businessman with close ties to the Barcelona tourism sector, and CEO Joaquim Clos, the collection has grown to include establishments in Barcelona, Madrid, London, and Paris. Avid art collectors, the Clos family has moved hundreds of art objects—including Mayan, Egyptian, Roman and Buddhist works—from their private collection to their hotels. With the Derby Hotels, the Clos family has united the perfect marriage of luxury and culture, upholding their position as one of the most prestigious hotel companies in Spain.
