BRICKS AND MORTAR

A local type of brick was chosen as the dominant structural material to give Glad Hotel Yeouido the warmth and soul of a traditional South Korean home. But thanks to award-winning Joh & Company’s singular vision, the bricks are expressed throughout the property in unique stacking patterns. The brutalist-interiors are rendered light thanks to a playful use of the material, giving depth and texture to the lobby. The hotel also adheres to the national environment-friendly standard and proudly uses geothermal energy.

GLAD TO HAVE YOU

The cozy rooms feature practical open shelving for storage, desk space, and even a lounge sofa for relaxing. High quality natural materials give the spaces a sense of calm and warmth. Posters in each room play on the hotel's 'glad' motif with amusing quotes from renowned thinkers such as Eleanor Roosevelt and Shakespeare.

At Greets restaurant and café, the interiors are a contrasting mix of bricks, bronze, and marble. The warm brown tones of the space make the overall industrial look here cozy. The hallways in the hotel are reminiscent of Seoul’s streets, replete with park benches.
