Nestled between the powdered sands of Guincho Beach and the picturesque fishing village of Cascais, this luxurious seaside retreat on the Portuguese Riviera was once the royal hideaway of the Kings and Queens of Europe in the 1950s. The 33 guestrooms are "dressed" by acclaimed Portuguese fashion designers, and sumptuous accents punctuate the ever-so-cool black and white interiors, hinting at the building's regal history. The entire structure of this graceful, flowing sanctuary was designed to blur the boundaries between the building and its stunning natural surroundings. The salt-water pool, with waves crashing onto the pool deck, and luscious garden terrace are only a few examples of the fluidity Farol cultivates. Bliss is guaranteed.

      Rooms & Suites

The 33 rooms and suites of this famous Cascais hotel were redesigned, eight of which were transformed by acclaimed Portuguese fashion designers: Ana Salazar, Fátima Lopez, Miguel Vieira, and Manuel Alves & José Manuel Gonçalves were among the visionaries who created individual looks in the hotel. The garden rooms, which open out to their own patches of green, offer views of quaint Mediterranean villas set against lush nature. While the Sea View rooms, suites, and the penthouse all provide spectacular vistas of the Atlantic.

      CM Dias Arquitectos

Mounted on the rocky shoreline of the Estoril Coast, this daring project by CM Dias Arquitectos practically falls into the Atlantic Ocean. The Lisbon-based firm created a bold architectural extension for the Count of Cabral’s 19th century mansion that enhances the property’s most sublime detail: it’s relationship with water. Not only do the guestrooms feature transcendent ocean views, but luxurious water retreats have also been integrated throughout Farol Design Hotel, including an outdoor saltwater pool and hydro-massage bathtubs in each of the guest rooms. Certainly a setting fit for a count, if not a fashionista king.

      Haute Hotel

To complete the modern transformation of the Count of Cabral’s seaside hideaway, Portugal’s fashion elite was successfully courted to “dress a room”. Ana Salazar, Fátima Lopez, Miguel Vieira and Manuel Alves & José Manuel Gonçalves were among the designers who created an individual look to rival the latest catwalk impressions for every single room.
