Literally translating to “City Triangle,” Rotterdam’s Stadsdriehoek refers to the historic city’s former shape that lays on the northern bank of the Niewue Maas’s sharpest bend. Because of World War II, the city boasts a relatively young skyline of mostly contemporary architecture, including the famous cube houses, while also offering up an array of cultural gems and indulgences. Art galleries and museums include the Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art, the Kunsthal, the Wereldmuseum, and the Museum van Boijmans Van Benuingen. The city’s central business district revolves around the impressive Beurs-World Trade Center, offering plenty of shopping, fine dining, and drinking options—including waterside bars and clubs by the Nieuwe Maas—all in a central location to encourage exploration.
