      ARCHITECTURE
      Piero Lissoni

First designed by revered Dutch architect Daniel Knuttel at the turn of the 19th century, the iconic structure served as a major bank for 77 years before becoming Amsterdam’s premier music conservatory from 1983–2003. Piero Lissoni sought to pay homage to the building's history while adding his own touches, such as the glass-covered atrium and exposed beams.

      INTERIOR DESIGN
      Lofty Heights

Lissoni taps the hotel’s musical legacy for inspiration for his interior design, mixing minimal modernist lines and soothing monochromatic tones with contrapuntal accents like buttery leather and rich wood.

Conservatorium’s duplexes take advantage of the high, narrow architecture that is particular to Amsterdam by creating serene sleeping sanctuaries on the second floor. Each room features a different color scheme and classical Italian travertine stone.”

      Georgi Akirov

Owner Georgi Akirov, music lover and entrepreneur, believes in what he’s coined the “Next Generation Lifestyle Hotel”. “You need space to build something very sincere and real,” Akirov says. Conservatorium Hotel Amsterdam is the first property of the luxury hotel collection The Set. “Each public space maintains its own distinctive ambience, and that differentiation carries through into the music,” Akirov mentions. The concept, with its several dining outlets and the Akasha Holistic Wellbeing Center, directly reflects his lifestyle choices: Akirov loves sailing, sports, meditation, and music festivals as much as he enjoys travelling the world and experiencing restaurants and bars.
