LEGORRETA + LEGORRETA

Famous for his use of bright colors, natural light, and thick walls, renowned Mexican architect Ricardo Legorreta took on the La Purificadora as a challenge. Limiting himself entirely to the colors black and white, he used materials like stone from the original construction, old wood, onyx, and specially fabricated floor tile in creating the hotel’s public spaces, which includes a stunning stairway and a roof terrace with an artist-rendered 30-meter pool. As would be expected from the always boundary-breaking Habita hotel group, La Purificadora offers travelers and locals alike a comforting yet always stimulating experience—a mix of tradition and contemporary flavor in its purest form.

INTERIOR DESIGN

REDEFINED PURITY

Elements found by an onsite archaeologist, such as bottles and glass fragments, are incorporated into the hotel’s construction and graphic design, which is a striking yet functional mix of the past and present, of the raw and the refined.
