      About Your Stay

Blending colonial 17th-century grandeur with a raw industrial edge, DOWNTOWN Mexico integrates local indigenous culture into its concept while celebrating its location in the Centro Histórico borough of Mexico City. Known as the “Palacio de los Condes de Miravalle”, it sits comfortably next to other colonial landmarks on the cobbled streets of this UNESCO World Heritage site. One of the oldest residences in the area that still maintains this particular Mexican viceregal style, the 17-room hotel blends elements of colonial style with local, indigenous culture. Characteristics such as ornate detailing around the windows of the facade and a stone-forge staircase with intricate handrails sit alongside grey volcanic rock walls and handmade cement tiles. DOWNTOWN Mexico's stripped-back, industrial elegance creates a bohemian chic environment, from its inspired rooms, to its lush garden patio and immense rooftop terrace where guests can get a glimpse over the historic buildings.

For this hotel, the architecture and interior design were led by CheremSerrano Arquitectos. The firm’s previous projects include several residential and commercial designs throughout Mexico City, such as the award-winning El Japonez restaurant, for which the firm won the National Award for Interior Design.

Housed in a magnificent palace, the meticulous renovation of DOWNTOWN Mexico ensured nothing was lost from the original building’s beauty, resulting in charming and intriguing architecture that blends seamlessly with the hotel’s location and natural environment.

      Old Meets New

The rooms and suites possess a stripped-back and raw industrial edge, while still maintaining an element of elegance. Components of the original building, such as exposed concrete walls and high vaulted brick ceilings add a sense of drama, while light wooden detailing and tiled floors keep the spaces feeling chic.

From this sun-soaked hotel guests can relax in their luxurious baths, take in views of historical buildings and the cobbled streets below, or simply relax at the pool while sipping a drink from the bar.
