      Brown TLV

In the neighborhood of Neve Tzedek, a steady stream of bicyclists in aviators, loose linens, and leather sandals make their way through streets of half-hidden cafés and wine bars. Here, restaurants double as art spaces, and galleries host underground events. Behind the facade of a former bank is the intimate Brown TLV—a hotel defined by its rich chocolate-and-caramel-colored walls, dark wood floors, and vintage-inspired furniture. The 30 rooms of Brown TLV invite an intimate, personal experience, which is welcomed in contrast to the bright, restless city of Tel Aviv outside its doors. Quiet conversations take place against a background of cocktail-hour lighting, and low-slung chairs. Warmly-lit hallways and the occasional piece of provocative art lead into rooms of soft browns and beiges. Above its perfectly tailored rooms, the rooftop bar and sundeck invite guests into the Mediterranean sun to reconnect with a bustling Tel Aviv below.

      Dario Grunzweig

The architecture of Brown TLV sets a unique scene in contrast with Tel Aviv’s Bauhaus buildings, leafy avenues, and colorful outdoor markets. The discreet, four-story building strikes a more contemporary tone than the architectural utopianism of its neighbors with its vaguely neo-classical facade, goldenrod awnings, and slender potted cacti. Up on the rooftop, guests are lured back out in the Mediterranean sun, to have a drink at the newly opened bar, lounge under umbrellas, or take a refreshing rinse, where they are re-awakened by views of the city.

      Intimate Urbanism

In the lobby, tufted leather couches, low-slung chairs, and a floor-to-ceiling bookcase produce an urban experience that is more intimate than the bright, extroverted city outside its doors. Delicate details and provocative gestures meet throughout the hotel. Brown TLV’s rooms feature sumptuous canopy beds bedecked in creamy Egyptian cotton linens and mid-century modern accents like organic-shaped lamps, vintage writing desks, and wooden slat tables.
