One look at the award-winning infinity pool, its elongated rectangle edges disappearing into a terraced jungle hillside, and you know that nothing like the Alila Ubud exists anywhere else in the world. Set in Bali's picturesque Ayung River Valley, this spectacular retreat allows guests to experience the extravagance of profound peace and quiet. It's also a place where architectural details effortlessly mix with natural elements. Straw roofs sit atop smooth plaster walls, while terracotta tiles blend into gravel and crushed rock, clearly delineating where the modern world ends and the traditional Balinese building begins. The only ‘distractions’? The flowing waters of the nearby river or the majestic backdrop of volcanoes.

      ARCHITECTURE

      Kerry Hill Architects

For ultimate exclusivity, the team from Kerry Hill developed eight Balinese villas, perched dramatically on stilts and featuring spacious wooden decks or large ponds and private gardens. The guestrooms dot the landscape in a manner akin to the setting of a Balinese village, complete with a village center from which mini piazzas blossom out.

      INTERIOR DESIGN

      Bali High

The guestrooms and private outdoor space—expressions of understated luxury made from the finest natural, local materials—are designed to maximize wind flow and lure one's gaze out onto the lush, verdant green of the Ayung River Valley.

The resort’s unique ‘Destination Dining’ means that one has the option of surprisingly different locations for bespoke breakfast, picnic lunches, or inspiring dinners within or outside the resort. Think of eco-luxury designer tents, dining under the stars amidst the rice fields, or even spectacular temple locations (available on request).
