      About your stay

With a design that blends great modernism of the past and innovation of the future, this ‘studiotel’ offers travelers to Bali a refreshing alternative to the ubiquitous ‘modern Bali’ style. Located in Seminyak, the island's most fashionable destination for shopping, dining, and relaxation, Luna2 studiotel is just a short stroll to the beach. From the 1960’s inspired façade covered in circular forms, to the wall-mounted installation in the lobby recalling the work of Dutch painter Piet Mondrian, iconic art references are present throughout. Bright primary colors pop from the stark white walls, while geometrical patterns, bright furnishings and accessories, and walnut detailing create welcoming, vibrant spaces. Each of the 14 studios features one of four accent colors—yellow, red, green, and blue—and offer modular open-plan lounges, equipped with the latest technologies.

      Circling Back in Time

At Luna2 studiotel, owner/designer Melanie Hall blends contemporary comforts with a bold design inspired by great modernism of the past century. Named after the first spacecraft to land on the moon in the late 1950’s, the hotel is surrounded by some of the islands best wining, dining, and nightlife. The engaging façade, with its circular pattern, is simple, devoid of fuss, and hints at what to expect inside. The hotel is part haven, part exhibition, and all joy, bursting on the busy scene like a breath of fresh air.

      Interior Design

      The World According to Melanie

The interior design, furniture, carpet and fabric design are all by owner and designer, Melanie Hall. She loosely refers to her design style as “FUNked up modernism”; with references to great works of the 1930s right through to the late '60s. With a retro-futuristic theme, Hall adds innovation of the "future" into the mix, with huge doses of humor.

In creating Luna2 studiotel, Hall chose a color palette of primary blues, reds, yellows and greens, inspired by classics such as Lego, Monopoly, Rubiks cubes and renowned Mondrian color-blocked artwork. This four-way color scheme culminates in both the lobby and poolside, with each colour then appearing solo in each space thereafter.

      Melanie Hall

Melanie Hall’s unique tropical-modernist aesthetic owes much to a childhood spent between Nigeria and the Caribbean under the wing of her architect father. Today, she is the owner and designer of Luna2, an exclusive five-bedroom private hotel that opened in southwest Bali in 2007, as well as the recently opened Luna2 studiotel with 14 open-plan studio guestrooms. Hall got her start in 1992 as Polo Ralph Lauren’s Head of Visual Merchandising in the UK, before taking over as Calvin Klein’s Head of Creative for Asia Pacific in Hong Kong. She relocated to Jakarta to start her own interior design company, working closely with several of the country’s top architects, but today makes her home in Singapore with her husband and three children.
