Why book with us?
Periscope Hotel in Athens is an experimental foray into contemplation, characterized by minimalist shapes and contemporary style. Located high above the up-market shopping streets of the cosmopolitan quarter Kolonaki, Dakis Joannou's art-filled Periscope urges guests to explore their thoughts on modern-day surveillance. Guests can feel a kind of periscopic control over the entire property, from the top floor to the lounge bar. Art is present outside Periscope Hotel, too. On the right wall of the building’s façade a magnificent work of art reproduces the movement of the shadows cast by the surrounding buildings: the effect is stunning. Inside, huge screens show dystopian images of an Athens stalked by giant three-dimensional animals, while on the main staircase trunk, a kind of primitive altimeter tracks your journey to bed, showing you how high you are above sea level with every step.
Rooms & Suites
Periscope’s 21 guestrooms boast specially commissioned art that recalls a periscope observing and recording the buzzing metropolis. The overall minimalist aesthetic and understated luxury of the rooms exude tranquility. The 23-square-meter Standard Rooms are ideal for the business traveler and feature wooden floors and soundproofing. The 25-square-meter Superior Rooms overlook Haritos Street, while the 40-square-meter Junior Suites offer a furnished sitting room and a large balcony. The 50-square-meter Penthouse Suite is a spacious two-level suite with an open-plan living room and office area.
Made by Originals
Dakis Joannou, the hardworking owner of Yes! Hotels, is one of the foremost collectors of contemporary European art in Greece. And when it comes to hospitality, he's just as dedicated to the cause. Working alongside innovative interior designers such as Brazil's Campana brothers, he has left his cool-as-ice hallmark on three Athens icons – Periscope Hotel, Semiramis, and New Hotel. As a member of the Board of Trustees at the New Museum of Contemporary Art in New York, a member of the International Directors Council of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation, and cofounder of DESTE Foundation for Contemporary Arts, Dakis Joannou is surrounded by the subjects that inspire him: art, design, and architecture.
