Nestled amid the vineyards and rolling hills, Becker's Hotel & Restaurant lies in a picturesque valley in the ancient city of Trier. Although not far from the lively shops and Roman monuments of central Trier, Becker’s is set in the almost-rural Olewig district, a location befitting its country kitchen and cozy design. A rich family tradition of winemaking that dates back five generations, Becker's is also known for its kitchen, the self-professed heart of the property, with dishes prepared from the highest quality ingredients be it tuna or artichokes. Indeed, Becker’s offers two places to gather over food and drink: a sophisticated, gourmet restaurant that earned an impressive two stars in the Michelin Guide and 18 points in Gault Millau, and a more low-key affair at Becker’s Weinhaus. This sophisticated wine bar exudes a cosmopolitan feel and serves Becker’s own wines, alongside regional and international vintages with a variety of snacks and cocktails.

    ARCHITECTURE

Ingbert and Jutta Schilz, Andreas Bohr (design), and Hans Jürgen Stein (execution)

Through the use of natural materials such as stone and wood, the property appears as if it is almost nestled within its surroundings. Seen from the outside, the lobby glows through large-paned windows, while the building’s volcanic rock façade gives the impression of a warm hearth. Blocks of charcoal grey basalt form a recurring motif inside the hotel as well, their subtly varying patterns lending the design a dynamic yet truly classic timelessness.

A lounge and library area features a pleasant fireplace and comfortable seating. Overstuffed chairs and modular white tables in the hotel’s library and lounge invite guests to converse or explore the books on offer.
