Situated in the heart of Munich’s old town, Cortiina Hotel is the result of one of the Bavarian capital’s most inspired partnerships—that of gastronome Rudi Kull and architect Albert Weinzierl. With its feng shui-inspired ambience, Cortiina exemplifies Kull and Weinzierl's shared philosophy, synthesizing sophisticated design, impeccable service, and a deep relationship with the local creative scene. Even the hotel’s name was modified to express harmonious balance. Encompassing 75 rooms, the Cortiina's aesthetic exudes relaxed elegance and soothing minimalism. Regional materials such as stone pine, bronze, linen, and bog oak coalesce in each guestroom's harmonious arrangement, underscored by warm, mood-enhancing hues of deep crimsons and rich earth tones. While the sun terrace offers picturesque views of the city's most historic rooftops, the golden glow of the classic Cortiina Bar invites guests to partake in Munich's well-heeled social scene late into the night.

      Local Integration

The Cortiina’s modern façade introduces guests to the hotel’s minimal style. Architect and co-owner Albert Weinzierl’s design incorporates a spectrum of regional materials ranging from bronze to local stone pine with a fragrant, light aroma that encourages rest and relaxation. A sedate color palette of natural hues unifies the Cortiina’s multiple buildings, accentuated by textures that invoke Bavaria’s rural charm.

Significant to the Cortiina’s earthy ambiance are the natural materials that dominate the hotel’s distinctly modern style. Bespoke furniture invites eclecticism into Cortiina’s fluid interior concept, as well as the contemporary patterned wallpaper found in a few of the apartment wing’s suites.

      Rooms & Suites

Inspired by the principles of Chinese feng shui philosophy, the Cortiina’s conscientious arrangement of its diverse rooms ensures harmonious spatial compositions that are both relaxing and sensually stimulating. First established in 2001, the hotel, which boasts a prominent address in Munich’s old town, added an adjoining apartment wing with a separate entrance in 2007 that features 33 rooms, three of which are outfitted with fully equipped kitchenettes. These kitchenettes are also available in the rear wing’s two business suites, allowing guests to enjoy the autonomous comforts of home. The bathrooms’ geometric minimalism is accompanied by slabs of Jura limestone, while beds are comprised of natural rubber mattresses, duvets filled with untreated cotton, and unbleached, high-quality Italian cotton sheets. With its two floors, the Maisonette Suite is definitely a highlight where two private balconies and sun terraces offer breathtaking views of Munich.

      Rudi Kull & Albert Weinzierl

Together with partner Albert Weinzierl, Rudi Kull opened Munich’s Cortiina Hotel in 2001 and introduced the concept of the modern boutique hotel to the Bavarian capital. Their collaboration has blossomed into a partnership that defies creative boundaries and is consistently stimulating, not only for themselves, but also for their local community. Weinzierl explains, “If there… (were) no challenges at the beginning of something new, we would just be functioning machines, not humans with a passion for always adding a little something extra to our neighborhood.”
