      About your stay

Standing as a landmark site in the pastoral German town of Michelstadt im Odenwald since 1623, Die Träumerei is a brilliantly executed project by German film actress Jessica Schwarz and her sister, Sandra Schwarz. Now converted into four spacious and impeccably designed rooms, the reimagined timbered house with cozy café is choc-a-bloc with whimsical charm. Quirky design touches abound, such as movie-row seats and individual room themes of hollyhock, ivory, jade, and gold. Die Träumerei (which translates as ‘The Dreamery) thus wordlessly taps into the attic-dwelling nostalgia of many people in creative professions. The artistic use of the original dark wood beams will make guests feel as if they're stepping into a fantastical haute-design tree house. The guestrooms' intimacy and comfort is a dream-come-true for couples in need of a getaway, while the beautiful natural surroundings of the Odenwald provide many possibilities for outdoor activities.

This delightful bed and breakfast in a quaint Hessian village is housed in a landmarked timbered structure that was admired by the Schwarz sisters throughout their childhood. Consisting of just three double rooms, two suites, and a cozy café, Die Träumerei is full of rustic charm. The sisters made sure that a ground-up ecological renovation preserved the building’s original dark wood beams and fairytale atmosphere, while at the same time providing a chic contemporary feel via modern design touches—quirky treasures and hidden requisites from Jessica’s films have been scattered throughout the house.

      Storybook Charm

Each spacious, individually-designed room comes equipped with flat screen satellite television, wireless Internet and panel or floor heating, and each is dominated by a specific design theme that dictates subtle colors, such as rustic dark-wood furnishings, and animal-themed décor, such as antlers or golden birds soaring across a room.

      Jessica & Sandra Schwarz

Born in Erbach im Odenwald and raised in the small town of Michelstadt, Germany, Jessica Schwarz has worked most of her life as a model, VJ, and actress, starring in such films as Perfume: The Story of a Murderer and Buddenbrooks. Though she currently resides in Berlin, Schwarz headed back to the place of her youth to open Die Träumerei, a seductive name for the whimsically nostalgic bed and breakfast she conceived with her sister Sandra. As the daughter of a carpenter, Schwarz inherited wanderlust and zest for creative craftsmanship from her father and set out to restore the rustic timbered house she so lovingly admired throughout her childhood.
