      About your stay

At The Mandala Hotel, service is impeccably professional but never intrusive. Stepping off the well-tread streets of Potsdamer Platz and slipping through an unassuming entrance, guests of The Mandala are met with welcome distractions. The two Michelin-starred restaurant FACIL, one of only five in the city, is hidden on the fifth-floor courtyard, nearly entirely open-air in summer. Chef Michael Kempf's menu emphasizes vibrant fresh vegetables and exotic herbs, meticulously prepared to preserve individual flavors, making for a rare culinary experience. The QIU Restaurant & Bar, located on the first floor of The Mandala creates a refined symbiosis between gourmet location and exclusive club lounge. In the spacious guestrooms, handcrafted tables and ornaments provide solid accents among the soft colors of raw silk curtains and cherry-wood floors. The top-floor ONO Spa is a world of holistic wellbeing high above Berlin, offering panoramic views and indulgent treatments tailor-made for those who value individualism and privacy.

      ARCHITECTURE

      Ulrike Lauber and Wolfram Wöhr

In an urban center built anew by international star architects, The Mandala Hotel is one of three Potsdamer Platz projects by Ulrike Lauber and Wolfram Wöhr. Windows of the second-floor Qiu Restaurant & Bar hideaway offer glimpses of the city rushing by. The all-suites residence is meant to provide long-term guests discreet relief from the area’s hustle and bustle, with most rooms facing the inner courtyard.

      INTERIOR DESIGN

Modern and Smartly Devoid of Trend

Interiors pare luxury down to its serene and subtle essence, but spare no expense with furnishings by Donghia and Chinese antiques hand picked by proprietor Lutz Hesse. The handcrafted tables and ornaments provide solid accents among the soft colors of raw silk curtains and cherry-wood floors. The design theme draws parallels with itself in the bathrooms, where light boxes are segmented in a manner similar to the door’s frosted panes.

      Finding Infinity

      The Pride of Potsdamer Platz

Set in the heart of Berlin’s newest neighborhood, the regal Mandala Hotel has zeroed in on a zero-waste philosophy that is turning heads in a city long known for its bold sustainability initiatives.

      Lutz Hesse and Christian Andresen

Lutz Hesse and Christian Andresen both studied hotel management in Lausanne and Hamburg respectively, before working together at the city’s Madison Hotel in the mid-1990s. At the turn of the millennium, they opened The Mandala, a sleek gem in the ultra-modern Potsdamer Platz, at the heart of new Berlin. Thirteen years on, Hesse and Andresen still set the gold standard in the never-hipper German capital.
