Architecture Old World wonder

Architecture Old World wonder

Gutted and renovated in 2012 for the hotel’s relaunch in 2014, the former townhouse has kept its original bones.

Its expansive façade and exaggerated interior proportions have been carefully maintained, with the original drama showcased by soaring ceilings, spacious rooms, and ample bay windows.

Interior design Bold bohemian spirit of a stately townhouse

Being mindful of modern living, designers Dayna Lee and Ted Berner have introduced a unique fluidity to the hotel.

Here, a bold bohemian spirit is mixed with the polish of a stately townhouse. Statement pieces chosen for the interiors complete Lee’s love of the property’s storied history and amplify references to classic Hollywood set design and 1920s abodes. The spacious rooms come with sumptuous bathrooms boasting double sinks, Maison Margiela bathrobes, and exclusive April Aromatics natural bath products.

History A stately townhouse

Built in 1889, the structure was originally the private residences of influential Berliners.

The building remains one of the few untouched during the WWII bombings. In 1911, it began its legacy as a hotel. Once the official VIP hotel to the Berlin International Film Festival, the grand catwalk was tread by the likes of Romy Schneider and Sophia Loren.
