Why book with us?
Flip open the brass shutters and let light flood into your room, right above Sofia's yellow paved main boulevard Tzar Osvoboditel. Your bed faces a vertical wall of glass, with views stretching well beyond the neighboring National Assembly and St. Alexander Nevski Cathedral. This is Sense Hotel Sofia, the first upscale design hotel in Bulgaria's capital. Stay in one of the 71 rooms and suites, eat on the terrace of the Mediterranean fusion restaurant, relax in the lobby lounge, sip champagne in the panoramic rooftop bar, or swim in the health center's stainless-steel swimming pool, and you'll discover that Sense Sofia is a new classic that stands out from the crowd. By meeting the changing needs of its guests, and acting as an architectural landmark in its own right, the hotel is sure to stand the test of time.
Lazzarini Pickering Architetti
Some of the city's most significant architecture can be found nearby, but rather than simply making the building fit in with its neighbors, owner George Chopev and his business partners deliberately challenged the status quo. With the help of Lazzarini Pickering Architetti, he created a building that is sensitive to its surroundings, but whose innovative glass facade literally reflects Sofia's past, present, and future. From the outside, Sense Sofia resembles a grid of golden-orange squares, marked out by thick lines and set behind a glass screen. If you think you notice its appearance changing throughout the day, don’t worry; it probably is. A system of pivoting panels is hidden behind the façade to screen off the bedrooms, and when combined with Lutron mood lighting, they create continuously changing configurations that seem to shimmer and dance across the face of the building.
A Modern Sense of Space
Behind the pivoting brass panels, a subdued palette, teamed with wooden floors and leather upholstery, creates a minimalist, masculine look. A modern spatial concept combines natural materials, clear lines, and glass—resulting in an elemental experience where all of the senses are in perfect harmony.
Made by Originals
George Chopev, the owner of Sense Hotel Sofia, has been an entrepreneur ever since he left college. For the last twenty years he has concentrated his efforts on retail, real estate, and land development, but with the opening of Sofia's first upscale design hotel he has branched into hospitality. Helping him is a group of business partners with a diverse portfolio of investments and a shared dream: to create a hotel that is recognized for its comfort, chic interiors, striking architecture, and personalized service. By taking into consideration the neighborhood's prominent architecture, and crafting something completely new, the team was able to launch an instant classic.
