    Rooms & Suites

Set within two distinct heritage buildings, the 200 rooms at the QT Sydney boast many quirks and nuances. A deep palette of reds, oranges, yellows, and whites feature throughout 12 unique room styles. Retaining the original timber floors, the rooms in the Gowings Building are bright and airy with eccentric touches and embellishments. The adjacent State Theatre rooms boast bespoke carpets and rugs, along with light, playful touches like bowler hat lamps and light fittings. The design team has played to the obvious eccentricities of the historical buildings, working around original features and enhancing heritage items, while giving a modern edge to the rooms with color and funky design objects. Every element has been designed specifically for the space—from the wardrobes, bedheads and carpets, to the minibars, glass cabinets, and materials.

    ARCHITECTURE

    Restored to their former glory

The conversion of the upper floors into a bright and chic boutique hotel did not affect the State Theatre, or the lower retail levels of the Gowings building, both built in the 1920s. While the former mixes eclectic elements of Gothic, Italian and Art Deco design, the latter has a vast and open layout—big windows, high ceilings, wide corridors, sandstone cladding and gargoyles that grace the facade.

Original features work with heritage items

Any traces of remaining history have been given a fresh and modern spin with colors and decor as rich and colorful as the buildings’ history—such as royal blue, magenta and yellow; statement furnishings; and geometric patterns on the ceilings and floors.

Unique design pieces adorn the rooms, with subdued lighting that bounces off deep reds and maroons and colored Perspex.
