The NewActon precinct is Canberra's cultural hub, the main place where business and culture travelers, art lovers, students, and locals all mingle. One uniquely Australian hotel stands out in this distinctive destination: Hotel Hotel, a holistic concept from the Australia-based Molonglo Group, founded on fertile principles of sustainability, community, diversity, and lifestyle. The hotel is located on three levels of the Nishi residential building, a sustainable "vertical village" that contains within it facilities delivering the best of global cinema, independent book and pop-up stores, music, and local cafés and bars. An exquisite grand stair, handcrafted from re-used and salvaged timbers, leads visitors to a hotel foyer more reminiscent of a living room than a lobby. The hotel public spaces are fashioned from humble materials, while bespoke furniture commissions, art, and collected objects feature in all of Hotel Hotel’s 68 rooms.

    Nectar and Johnathan Efkarpidis

Hotel Hotel is the brainchild of Molonglo Group’s co-directors, Nectar and Johnathan Efkarpidis. The brothers see buildings as potent vessels for delivering cultural and social enterprise. They pursue a collaborative approach to the development of new ideas that help support the global sustainability movement, local artists, designers, and small industry. Nectar has a mixture of arts and commerce degrees; Johnathan is a graduate in humanities and takes an obsessive interest in sustainability. Having lived in London for many years and still a global nomad of sorts, Nectar provides creative narrative direction with a rigor seldom seen in the property industry. Nishi is the hub that cities often lack; Hotel Hotel is the access point to this hub.
