7 Questions for Dutch Beat-Maker Shinedoe

Happenings

Date 15 March 2019

Chinedum Nwosu, a.k.a. Shinedoe, began her DJ career when she was still a teenager, with her Inmotion parties (now called Intacto Nights) becoming a hot fixture of Amsterdam’s clubbing calendar around the turn of the millennium. Drawing from a broad range of influences, from Detroit to minimal to garage to her Nigerian roots, the tech-savvy Shinedoe now stands at the helm of Intacto and MTM Records (Music That Moves), two meticulously honed platforms for soulful techno founded in 2004 and 2018, respectively.

Shinedoe has presided over sets from Berghain to Harlem to Japanese megaclub Womb and released a multitude of 12-inches with labels such as Ibadan Records, Cocoon, and Bpitch Control.

What do you miss most when you’re on the road?

Sometimes I miss traveling with someone to share experiences with.

What’s the best, weirdest, or craziest situation you’ve experienced on your journeys so far?

I just like living in the moment. So much has happened, I can’t say just one thing now. Drunk people on the plane, drivers, promoters who arrive too late for things. But the best is definitely seeing a lot of the world.
