Senior Manager Brand Portfolio EMEA (m/f/d)

This role supports the Global Brand Portfolio Director with the qualitative and strategic curation of the Design Hotels member portfolio in EMEA. The addition of new, on-strategy hotels, in alignment with the selection criteria, is one of the principal drivers of Design Hotels’ revenue and an important element in evolving the product quality, distribution power and ultimately the brand equity of Design Hotels. The Senior Brand Portfolio Manager pre-qualifies and delegates applications and proactively scouts prospects. Success in the position demands a proactive disposition, a willingness to champion new business opportunities, an enthusiasm for working on a small, focused team whilst understanding the wider scope of the Marriott environment, a good brand understanding, excellent communication skills and a passion for hospitality.




  • Expand the Design Hotels member portfolio with on-brand properties across EMEA (focus ES & FR)

Tasks / Complexity

  • Strategically identify potential member hotels & manage an on-brand pipeline for success
  • Engage prospective on-strategy hotels and identify their needs, opportunities, and goals to match them with our value proposition and services
  • Review membership applications and evaluate the potential for Design Hotels 
  • Conduct brand fit assessment for new potential members in alignment with Design Hotels Global Brand Portfolio strategy. This includes:

- Collecting and reviewing relevant hotel information, exchange with owners / reps, pitching Design Hotels value proposition, preparing tailored presentations, creating case studies

- Conduct site inspections in potential member hotels in high-potential EMEA markets (30%-50% travel required)

- Build strong relationships & engagement with the existing and potential Design Hotels owner community

  • Collaborate closely with MI Development Team and support throughout deal signing process 
  • Monitor on competitors as well as regions market size and trends
  • Grow the network of influential players in the independent hospitality sector and creative industry e.g. architecture & design
  • Align with all relevant departments within the organization to ensure a smooth workflow and stay updated on new services and developments
  • Diligently track communication with prospective clients through our hotel CRM tool
  • Demonstrate a solution driven approach to the sales process

Stakeholder Management

  • Existing and new owners
  • Act as a brand partner and collaborator to EMEA Marriott Development Team



Portfolio and Business Development

  • Formulating, implementing and driving a strategy to create value through the pursuit of new projects, a proactive disposition
  • Good knowledge of the hospitality market and its key players in the different subregions and countries within the boutique market
  • Understanding of brand equity and well-versed in both, the creative and commercial side of a business organization
  • In-depth understanding of the business landscape in travel & independent hospitality sector


  • Design-oriented, culturally aware, understanding of local and global aesthetics, aware of key trends / at the pulse of the time
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills being able to adjust to audiences - corporate environment and creative, independently minded individuals.
  • High performing, collaborative solution provider and proactive decision maker
  • Strong interpersonal skills, empathetic, enthusiastic, collaborator, excels in building new relationships and instilling trust 

Other skills and prerequisites

  • Fluent in English, French and Spanish beneficial
  • Willing to travel as needed up to 30-50% 

Business Understanding

  • Passion for Design Hotels’ ethos and a solid understanding of the business

Degree / Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in, business development, owner relations, creative / brand or related field in travel or hospitality
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, hospitality or related field



  • A great experience in the niche market of luxury boutique hotels
  • Working in a motivated and international team from over 39 countries at the global Headquarters of Design Hotels™ located in the creative Media Spree area in Berlin
