The Life Gallery is gently nestled in lush grounds on the northern outskirts of Athens. An elegant sea green glass façade encases the hotel’s Eastern promise and suburban Zen.
Spread across 3,200 square meters in Ekali, one of Athens’ sophisticated suburbs, the hotel has a contemporary style touched with elegant luxurious elements: Traditional Indonesian furniture and typical Asian agave plants greet visitors in the lobby. The interiors, co-designed by the owner Gina Mamidakis, create a metaphor for life’s richer experiences, and double as a refined gallery setting for local artists. Encircling the building, the expansive landscaped gardens, dotted with mature pines and cedar tress, blend in harmoniously with their suburban surroundings. Two sundecks and swimming pools set in the greenery of the grounds offer guests a continuation of the tranquillity within their rooms.
Following a spatial revitalisation of the 1970s five-storey block by German architects Klein/Haller, the hotel’s 30 rooms are airy and roomy: Featuring marble floors throughout and a muted colour scheme of grey, taupe and beige. Orange light also recessed into panels on the threshold to the modern bathrooms sets a warm tone for the simple and functional Gervasoni bed with a black stained bamboo surround, which Italian Paola Navone designed for every room. Balconies stretching out from 24 of the rooms are enclosed within a frame of clever multifunctional, high-tech glass panels that can be rotated to create an atrium and offer impressive views of Mt. Parnes and Mt. Penteli. |
