THE HOTEL
On the water's edge at Nacka Strand, Hotel J in Stockholm has mile wide views over the royal Djurgården, Lidingö and the boats on Saltsjön. With its own guest harbour for 25 boats, Hotel J is only 15 minutes sailing from Stockholm. Inspired by J boats of America's Cup history, the original 1912 brick building has been decorated in a contemporary marine style recalling the boathouses of New England. Architects, Millimeter and designers, R.O.O.M. have used white-painted wooden boards, strong cotton cloths in pure colors and oak furniture to create the look. The lobby is the centerpiece of the hotel where, by the fireside, guests can enjoy the same fine views as from their bedrooms. The hotel's restaurant, "Restaurant J", lying on the pier, opened in 1996 and specialises in modern, international seafood. Sailing, fishing and golf are all accessible in the area. The nearby Tornvillan Center has conference and banqueting facilities and the "Poseidon" fitness center, available to guests.
