A hospitality-industry veteran, Jorge Cosme is the general manager of Lisbon’s Fontana Park Hotel. Interior designer Nini Andrade Silva, who conceived of the hotel’s oversize furnishings, black and white colour scheme and clean look, is a Portuguese-born architect, artist, and award-winning designer. She has a furniture collection in the works in Asia.

Overlooking the lush gardens from which is gets its name, Lisbon’s Fontana Park Hotel is a reflection of both nature and the lively atmosphere of one of Europe’s most vibrant port cities. But it’s also a beacon of modernity with a striking colour scheme and avant-garde vibe. Black and white are used to great effect, with the soul of interior designer Nini Andrade Silva’s design sensibility merging high culture and nature. “I like when you walk in and go ‘wow,’” she explains with characteristic passion. “When you walk in and don’t say ‘wow,’ then my work didn’t work.”
