Surrounded by 21 theatres, the Covent Garden Hotel is a choice location in the heart of London’s entertainment district and is only a short walk to Soho and the Royal Opera House. In the midst of so much drama, the hotel certainly holds its own.
Guests are greeted by grand curtains adorned with English roses at the reception before entering the stage of aged woods, dignified architecture, and head-turning interiors by Kit Kemp. Up stone stairs, the generously sized first-floor drawing room has maple-wood panelling, bright upholstery and a stunning writing desk of inlaid wood. For a more intimate retreat, withdraw to the adjoining Tiffany’s Library with fireplace and honour bar.
This charming design hotel also meets modern travellers' needs with a gym and beauty spa, three private dining rooms and a private screening room. Brasserie Max, with its pewter bar framed by an arched mirror and featuring cosy banquettes and tucked-away corners, is a favourite pre- or post-theatre haunt not only for Londoners.
Covent Garden Hotel's 58 individually designed rooms feature Kemp’s trademark creative mixes of abstract and figurative upholstery patterns. Her "canvases" are demi-canopies, decorative headboards, flowing drapes and even matching wallpaper and bedspreads. Bathrooms are kept elegantly simple in granite and mahogany. |
