At an altitude of 1500 metres, the newly revamped Nevaï is a sparkling gem in Verbier’s snow covered crown. Its location in Verbier, traditionally one of Europe’s most revered ski destinations, places Nevaï in the heart of the Swiss Alps and at the crux of its thriving cultural and après-ski social life. Although the hotel fireplace’s heat welcomes guests, comforting them and luring them in, conceptually Nevaï draws its inspiration from its snowy surroundings. With a name denoting “snow” in Patois (the language traditionally spoken in this region of Switzerland), Nevaï’s aesthetic scheme is often called alpine chic referring to the pre-eminence of the snowflake form reflected throughout the structure; the subdued, wintery colour palate; the smooth, Scandinavian inspired furnishing and the emphasis placed on integrating the exterior view into each space’s blueprint.
Nevaï’s 33 state of the art guestrooms and 2 extraordinary penthouse suites are exemplary of this endeavour, allowing guests to appreciate the intensity of the mountainous region while indulging in all of the contemporary creature comforts typical in a luxury hotel such as Egyptian cotton bedding, iPod docks with iPod, CD/DVD players, Flat screen TVs, extensive DVD library, Elemis bath products, and a well stocked mini bar (in the penthouses, guests as well have access to an open log fireplace, a private entrance, a state-of-the-art sound system and a private balcony with a Jacuzzi).
The rich wooden decks lining Nevaï, often swathed in perfect white powder, lend the building a sense of lightness that integrates it smoothly with its natural surroundings. The Nevaï spa is a gorgeous and relaxing space in slate and mosaic tile in which guests can enjoy a Turkish hamam, a dipping pool, saunas and a variety of rejuvenating treatments. The hotel’s restaurant, lit by bulbous globes and the soft sunshine that bounces off the mountain walls of the surrounding valley, reflects the whites and greys of those mountains in its furnishing and offers unparalleled views of the stunning Swiss Alps. The Nevaï bar is the next step. With its four-metre long fireplace, sunken seating and cosy boudoir area, it is as perfect a place for an après-ski drink with friends as it is for an intimate night cap with a cherished companion. Finally, The Farm Club located at Nevaï is a destination in its own right. It has not earned its position as the time-honoured place to see and be seen in the region in vain: The Farm Club brings the hotel’s theme of intimate yet cool to the extreme with a bungalow feel that has survived generations and continues to persuade newcomers.
