As general manager of Bern’s most respected hotel, Michael Thomann often has to take the lead. And when plans were announced to completely transform the historic property, he rose to the challenge, giving careful instructions on how the hotel’s time-honored splendor should be brought into the 21st century. The type of guest Thomann envisions in the hotel is one that “values high-standing, personal service in a traditional atmosphere, but with a contemporary twist”. Unlike hotel managers of old, Thomann is a true team player, giving inspiration to everyone involved with the property’s reinvention. “Every member of the team is a host”, he says. He, too, is a natural host and as passionate about his work at the hotel as he is about his beloved Harley Davidson, which he loves to ride with his wife.
