Maspalomas offers fine beaches, large sand dunes and all the conveniences of a tourist resort as well as a 19th century lighthouse, which is also a good starting point for strolls through a nature reserve that stretches all the way to the popular beaches of Playa del Inglés. Maspalomas also has an international dance festival, Masdanza. The oasis La Charca close to the lighthouse is a popular spot for bird watchers.
