Other landmarks include the 16th century Town Hall and the Alamillo bridge, designed by Santiago Calatrava and built as an access bridge to La Cartuja, an island in the Guadalquivir river that not only was the site of the Expo ’92, but once also home to the Monasterio de Santa María de las Cuevas, where Columbus planned his voyage to the West.
